Luigi De Laurentiis studied film production at the University of Southern California, graduating in May of 2003, and going on to do a Master’s in Film Finance and Marketing, again at USC.
On his return to Italy, he started to work for Filmauro, first as Line Producer of CHRISTMAS IN LOVE, the 2004 top box office hit, MANUALE D’AMORE (winner of the 2005 David of Donatello Prize for Margherita Buy and Carlo Verdone, and a major popular and critical success), and NATALE A MIAMI, the highest box office earner for 2005.
In the spring of 2006, he was Executive Producer of IL MIO MIGLIOR NEMICO, the biggest box office hit of 2006.
With NATALE A NEW YORK, he signed his first film as a producer, together with his father, forming afresh the Luigi and Aurelio De Laurentiis team. He produced also MANUALE D’AMORE 2 by Giovanni Veronesi, NATALE IN CROCIERA by Neri Parenti, GRANDE GROSSO E…VERDONE by Carlo Verdone, NATALE A RIO by Neri Parenti, the biggest box office hit of 2008, and ITALIANS by Giovanni Veronesi with Carlo Verdone, Sergio Castellitto and Riccardo Scamarcio. In 2009 He has followed the production of NATALE A BEVERLY HILLS and GENITORI e FIGLI: AGITARE BENE PRIMA DELL’USO by Giovanni Veronesi, with Silvio Orlando, Michele Placido, Luciana Littizzetto and Margherita Buy. In 2010 He has been the producer of NATALE IN SUDAFRICA, by Neri Parenti. In 2011 He produced the long waited prequel to Amici Miei series, AMICI MIEI…COME TUTTO EBBE INIZIO and VACANZE DI NATALE A CORTINA, both directed by Neri Parenti. In 2012 He has been the producer of POSTI IN PIEDI IN PARADISO, Carlo Verdone’s latest comedy.
In June 2008 he won, with his father Aurelio, the Nastro d’Argento Award for the movies GRANDE GROSSO E…VERDONE.
